Here is everything that I did with my Masters class for week 20 in cycle 2 of Classical Conversations!
Contents
CC Cycle 2 Week 20 Memory Work
CC Cycle 2 Week 20 Timeline
This week for timeline, I had my class shoot the Timeline cards with a Nerf gun.
This is always a simple yet fun way to do the Timeline songs as the students always like the chance to shoot at a card.
If you have 8 students, I find there is usually time to have all 8 students get a chance to shoot. Either sing the song 8x or just do 7x and have two students go at the end.
Supplies needed for Timeline:
- 7 Timeline cards pertaining to the week
- Nerf gun and Nerf dart
Approximate time it takes for Timeline: 5 minutes
CC Cycle 2 Week 20 Math
This week for math was really fun as many of my students love the geometry song on YouTube.
Here is the video to the song:
It was really hard to get my students to only sing the circle portion.
Since we are presenting this song for our end of year celebration, we decided to do just the entire song 7 times.
Encourage the class to snap their fingers, click their tongues, or clap their hands along with the song!
Supplies needed for Math: None
Approximate time it takes: 5 minutes (less if only singing the area of a circle)
CC Cycle 2 Week 20 History

My class loves playing Hot or Cold for history so we have done it almost every week since I introduced it week 3.
To play Hot or Cold, listen to the history song one time all together.
Then, show the class the item you will be hiding.
This week, we hid a pair of daisy sunglasses – think hippies.
Have one parent bring the chosen student outside into the hallway while the rest of the class chooses a place to hide the item.
Once hidden (tip – only give them 30 seconds so it’s not a big time suck), invite the student back in. Have the class sing the history song loudly if the student is close to finding the object and quietly if the student is farther from the object.
The student has six repetitions to find it. If they find it in time, they win, if not, the class wins. If the student finds it before six repetitions are over, have everyone sing or say the history song as fast as they can for the remaining repetitions.
Supplies needed to play Hot or Cold:
- object to hide – I used a pair of daisy sunglasses (for the hippie vibe)
- timer – if students are likely to be indecisive on where to hide the object, set a 30 second timer
Approximate time it takes to play Hot or Cold: 5 minutes
CC Cycle 2 Week 20 Latin
I reminded the class that a way to remember the perfect tense is with the sentence:
The farmer in the dell was having a perfect day so he said, “EEE”.
I got the sentence idea from Joys of a CC Mom on YouTube. Here is the video I referenced:
This week we simply sang through the song 2x and then sang it once halfway through to get the 7 repetitions.
Supplies needed for Latin: None
Approximate time needed for Latin: 1 minute
CC Cycle 2 Week 20 Science
I found this song by Joys of a CC Mom on YouTube for weeks 19-21 science.
The tune goes along to the tune of John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt.
Here is the YouTube video:
This week we did the limbo!
The limbo would symbolize heat flowing from an area of higher temperature to an area of lower temperature as the limbo gets moved closer to the floor which each repetition.
The kids had fun with this one and I made sure to introduce the grammar sentence once before starting the game so they had a better chance of saying it with me as they waited for their chance to limbo.

Supplies needed for science:
- Limbo stick – I used a yard stick
Approximate time needed for science: 5 minutes
CC Cycle 2 Week 20 English
This week I found a catchy video on YouTube by Wendy Westerfield. She has a lot of fun upbeat tunes if you want to check her out!
This song is to the tune of The Lord’s Army.
Here is the song:
I passed out pieces of paper to the class, it would either have an A or an N on it.
The A stood for appositive and the N stood for noun.
Since the appositive is directly besides a noun, each repetition, the class would need to find a partner. If you had an A, you needed to find an N.
You would need to have a new partner each repetition.
This was super simple and kept the class moving.
Here are the repetitions:
- Read the new grammar
- Introduce the song
- Pass out papers, explain the rules, and have them find their first partner as you sing.
- Repeat step 3 for as many partners as possible in the class or up to 7 total repetitions.
If you have a smaller class, you can have them repeat partners again or just sing the song for the remaining repetitions.

Supplies needed for English:
- 4 pieces of paper with an A written on it
- 4 pieces of paper with an N written on it
Approximate time needed for English – 4 minutes
CC Cycle 2 Week 20 Geography
This week I found a fun video by The Home Video Variety Show on YouTube.
Here is the video:
To get our repetitions in, this is what I did:
- I read the components of the Southeastern Asia Countries
- I read and had them trace the locations on their maps
- I introduced the song to them
- I had the class sing the song with me as we pointed to the countries for repetitions 4, 5, and 6
- Singing all together
- Singing all together
- Questions
Here are the review questions I asked for the South Central Asia Countries:
- Which is closer to the Philippines, South Vietnam or Cambodia? South Vietnam
- What oceans surround Thailand? (Indian and Pacific)
- Is Laos or North Vietnam closer to Taiwan? (North Vietnam)
Supplies needed for geography:
- dry erase map for each student
- dry erase marker for each student
- eraser for each student
Approximate time needed for geography: 5 minutes
CC Cycle 2 Week 20 Composers & Orchestra
This week was very simple again.
I had the class lay down on the floor in a dark room for the first repetition. Everyone was great about spreading out – I have a large classroom which helps – so this alone aided in having a quiet and focused classroom.
I also bring in my bluetooth speaker.
Before the second repetition, I walked the class through the timeline showing when instruments were introduced in the song.
When we listened the second time through, I told them beforehand to try to follow along themselves and see if they can correctly guess when everything is happening (but to themselves to foster a quiet atmosphere).
You can find the songs for this unit at the Classical Music for Dummies website. I recommend downloading them to your phone’s files rather than trying to connect to WiFi or use your data at your CC facility.
Supplies needed for Composers:
- bluetooth speaker – optional, but great for larger rooms
- Classical Music for Dummies book (to create a quick intro)
- Classical Music for Dummies songs (# 4) downloaded to your phone
CC Cycle 2 Week 20 Science Experiment
For science this week we made bridges!
This was a fun science project, as we talked about Newton’s First Law of Motion.
I used the Ezine print out as my prompt and had the class make bridges. We had a competition at the end where we had a winner holding at least 18 books!
Supplies needed for science:
- lots and lots of straws – my class used about 200
- lots and lots of tape – my class went through 3 rolls and still wanted more
CC Cycle 2 Week 20 Review
For review this week, I decided to “extend” the science time again.
Review was super quick, as I simply asked them questions as they worked on their bridges.

Because we got through all of the questions in about 15 minutes, we were able to have time to hold our competition.
The class did so well that we voluntarily went into our lunch time to see how we could break these bridges!
Eventually, we were able to find a winner.
Supplies needed for review:
- supplies for science
